Our next book club on 11/8 we will be reading "In a Grove" by Ryunosuke Akutagawa

The Teacher/Alumni Book club is a monthly meeting of the minds where anyone is welcome to discuss great literature!

  • Monday night, once a month (6:30pm): 2nd Monday of the month - easy and consistent
  • Classic Literature: The Hobbit, Diary of a Country Priest, Emma, Robinson Crusoe, David Copperfield, The Portrait of a Lady or other 100-400 page novels that you suggest. "Classical Literature" could mean a lot of different things so please submit your ideas to the book list below; With a new book each month, even if the book we pick is not to your taste you only need to wait a few weeks for a different option.
  • Excerpt is mandatory, but reading the whole book is encouraged: the idea is to have this book club be open to all with no pressure; including busy parents and professionals. The thesis, if you will, is to encourage reading more often and with better insight through conversation. With that in mind, we will read excerpts (a selection of chapters) from the book that we can all discuss and if the overachievers want to read more they can  add those insights without intimidating the rest of the crew!
  • In person but with zoom option: those that can meet in person gather in Adam's room and any busy participants or curious onlookers can call in to participate. Baked goods and shareable treats encouraged!
  • Open to all: I'd love to see other alums and teachers join, feel free to forward this invite to those you think may be interested!
